Style: Wellies

Nothing screams British Summer Time louder than wellies and a rain coat, and anyone who tries to say “flip flops” or “spaghetti strap dress” is only kidding themselves. Personally I can find summer more of an inconvenience than winter because how the hell do you dress for 25 degree heat, pouring rain and 80% humidity. Sweet lord the humidity. Give me a morning where Jack Frost has done his magic and I can see my breath in front of me because to be honest it just means my hair will freeze in place and I won’t need to worry about it buying another ticket for it on the train to work.

Either way, whatever the season I think we all need to come to terms with the fact that if we want to get about without at least a mild case of trench foot, a minimum of one pair of wellies will be required for our wardrobes. At the risk of sounding like I give zero shits to my appearance, my greatest wish is to have a pair of frog wellies in adult size. Not just me apparently, when I googled them it was the second most searched for result. But alas, it is not meant to be. So if you have feet over a size 3, here’s a round-up for you!

After a six month hunt, these babies sit in the boot of my car for whatever muddy adventures I go on (but weirdly, not the muddiest of adventures to Shwt...another story for another day!) Absolutley worth the investment and the array of colours they come in is fantastic. Got my eyes on a mulberry coloured pair next!

If you're still insisting British Summer Time is thing, these from Havaiana are excellent! Perfect for beach walking with the dogs.

For those unwilling to put practicality ahead of style, these from Wedge Welly are ideal! and at £35, very reasonable. How much actual water they'll keep out is another thing and you tell me if a wedge is the shoe of choice to be scaling a a fence whilst a field of cows are charging at you! (Almost happened!)
